Virgin Media’s Connected Home at The Company’s HQ. A smart home designed to appeal to everyone.
In recent months, Virgin Media officially unveiled their custom-built Smart Home experience with packages including leading smart home technology products from Google and TP-Link. To fully demonstrate the incredible technology in use, Virgin now showcase the options available in a purpose-built new ‘Connected home’ at the company’s HQ in Dublin.
This project was a successful collaboration between Bizquip, The Interiors Group and of course Niamh Rankin and her team in Virgin Media.
It was important to Virgin Media that the design of this new smart home did not exclude anyone, that no matter who walked through the doors, they felt at home. Visitors needed to easily envisage it as their own home, and fully identify with the space – this was vital to the success of the Virgin Smart ‘Home’ demonstration suite. Home interior design is very personal and identifying colours and furnishings that would appeal to all was the task that fell to Lynne Casserley of our interiors team, who worked alongside Ramona Magyar of The Interiors Group.
Based on the concept design developed by the team in The Interiors Group, Lynne worked closely with Niamh to deliver the interior design and ultimately, the supply of commercial furniture. Given that the space would be used as both a demonstration suite and a meeting area, commercially rated furniture was a must.
When choosing furniture, Lynne opted for neutral tones and injected warmth with the clever use of accessories and soft furnishings which reflected the finishes of the concept. Danish home interior and design brand Hübsch was for us the obvious choice, as much of their furniture celebrates individuality and personal style, combining a mix of soft furnishings, lighting, and home accessories with inspiration from different design eras.
The Hübsch furniture was further complimented by pieces from Italian designers including Sitia and Pedrali.
The Interiors Group also designed the beautiful bespoke kitchen which was a wonderful showcase for much of the smart home technology.
Overall, the outcome was a calm, relaxing home environment, which was exactly what Virgin Media wanted to achieve. It was the perfect setting for them to showcase their incredible Connected Home Technology.
Niamh Rankin of Virgin commented that “Thanks to the experience of Lynne and the teams in Bizquip, their complete understanding of our brief and their access to a range of incredible furniture designers, we were beyond delighted with the outcome. The project flowed seamlessly, and I felt that we were in very capable hands at all times – our biggest issue is visitors to the demonstration home not wanting to leave!”
